September 28, 2023 Release Notes

You asked and we delivered-- A way to filter all your data (including GA4 website data) by Market Area!

When Google released GA4 without a way to filter by "DMA," there was a bit of widespread panic among marketers. 😨 But never fear-- We've developed our own filter called "Market Area" which will give you this flexibility and layering in your data. This is just one of the exciting new releases this week for your ZDOS™.

Terminology Change: DMA → Market Area

Anywhere in your ZDOS™ application where you previously saw “DMA,” you will now see the words “Market Area” or “Visitor Market Area.”

What’s in a name? DMAs — or designated market areas — are identified and maintained by Nielsen, and they change periodically as Nielsen assesses shifts in TV and radio markets. For stability, many data providers (including Zartico) use a generalized version of market area geographies that remains consistent over time. Differences between our areas and Nielsen’s should be minor, but to avoid confusion with Nielsen’s copyrighted DMAs and to be precise in our terminology, we’re now calling these “Market Areas.”

Market Index Now Includes GA4 Data

Your Market Index insight — which appears in the Origin Behaviors module — now includes data from Google Analytics 4. We know this is a highly valued insight, useful for market research and campaign development, and now it includes your latest website data alongside mobile device count, cardholder count, and cardholder spending. AND you can filter everything by Market Area, including your GA4 data!

Refreshed Module Summaries

As we continue to simplify your ZDOS™, we’ve refreshed the summaries that appear at the top of each of your core modules. Look here to quickly understand what you can do with each set of insights, and find links for Knowledge Base articles that define terms and explain concepts in detail. Core modules that contain geolocation and spending data will also include sample size information within the summary.

Updated Bureau of Labor Statistics Pipeline

Improvements to the pipeline that brings publicly available jobs data into your ZDOS™ means that now you will be able to view jobs data my month. This update also makes it easier to align trends in jobs data alongside other data sets including geolocation, spend, and lodging. In this release, all standard BLS related insights have been updated to reflect monthly data granularity.

As part of this release, we’ve deprecated the BLS Jobs Explorer in the Economic Opportunity module and we are evaluating the need for comparison between industries. If this is of interest to you, we would welcome your feedback on how you would like to compare industries.

POI Categories

We have cleaned up the list of POI categories you see in your ZDOS™ to consolidate similar places and standardize the list across all partners. Reminder: Categories apply across geolocation, spend, and website data to enable comparisons and deeper analysis as a part of the Place-Based Strategy.
